Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest poets in the Kannada language, is a household name in Karnataka.

Born in Deena(Now in Pakistan) on 18th August, 1934. After partition he came to Delhi. Gulzar - aka Sampooran Singh began his film career as an assistant to Bimal Roy.

An Indian poet and dramatist, Kalidasa lived sometime between the reign of Agnimitra, the second Shunga king (c. 170 BC) who was the hero of one of his dramas, and the Aihole inscription of AD 634 which praises Kalidasa's poetic skills.
