Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IIS Bangalore) is a unique institute concerned with research in frontier areas and education in current technologically important areas. The Institute was the vision of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and ultimately it came into being as a tripartite venture between the Tatas, the Government of India, and the Government of Maharaja of Mysore. IIS Bangalore is the first Institute in the country to introduce innovative Integrated Ph D Programmes in Biological, Chemical and Physical Sciences for science graduates.
